Sometimes it’s the subtle revelations that determine who we are. The fine jewelry of Michelle Fantaci embodies that ethos: delicate pieces of art created from gemstones and gold that allow the wearer to feel at home in her own skin. Defined entirely by the details – the perfect pairings of unusual color combinations; feminine lines punctuated with thorny spikes; a raw/refined dichotomy of metallic finishes – each piece feels at once modern and as though a treasured heirloom or lyrical talisman

New York City native Michelle Fantaci is both fine jewelry designer and artisan. Naturally drawn to jewelry, she began creating her first pieces at the age of 15 and subsequently spent a year studying metalsmithing and Old World techniques in Florence, Italy, while in college. But it wasn’t until 2006, while studying for her master’s degree in Interior Design at Pratt Institute, that she finally realized her true passion for the jewelry-making process. Going on to study wax modeling under the highly respected technical teacher Fred de Vos, in 2007 she launched her namesake collection.

This intimate knowledge of craftsmanship informs her process, at once studied and yet entirely personal. Her jewelry feels handmade because it is; many pieces are the result of hours of sketching and model building, while others are born from a newfound interest in computer design technology. Although Fantaci works primarily with premium materials, including 14k and 18k gold, precious gems and fancy colored diamonds, there's a sense of ease to her jewelry. Necklaces are created at varying lengths, stacking rings fit together like an elegant puzzle, bangles nuzzle up to one another to create a quietly decadent sum even greater than its parts.

“My hope is that every piece only gets better with time and age," Fantaci says. "Although there is a simplicity and elegance to the collection, each detail is very specifically chosen to evoke an element of surprise and singularity, which makes it distinct, confident and expressive, like the woman who wears it.”

Michelle Fantaci jewelry has appeared in the pages of VogueWThe New York TimesWomen’s Wear Daily, and many others. The collection is sold at a select group of top retailers across the United States.
